Beem Privacy Policy

Beem (“Beem,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to being transparent about how your information is collected, used, protected, and shared.

This Privacy Policy explains how Beem handles personal information when you use the Beem mobile application, our website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Our goal is simple: we use your information only to operate, secure, personalize, and improve Beem, and to provide the features you choose to use.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

We do not use private Reply message content to build advertising or recommendation profiles.

• Inner Circle relationships
• Vibes

• Beemer requests
• Replies activity
• Explicit recommendation preferences, such as “Show less like this”

These interactions may be used to provide social features, improve discovery, and personalize the content and people shown to you.

2.4 Replies

Replies are private one-to-one conversations that begin from a Shot.

We store Reply messages so participants can access their conversation history and use Beem's messaging functionality.

The content of private Reply messages is not used to create semantic interest profiles, recommendation embeddings, or advertising profiles.

We may process technical information necessary to operate Replies, such as:

• Thread identifiers
• Participants
• Message identifiers
• Message timestamps
• Read/unread state
• Whether a Reply interaction occurred

We may use the fact that a Reply occurred as an interaction signal, but we do not analyze the private text of the conversation for recommendation purposes.

3. Device and Technical Information

We may collect limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, and improve Beem, including:

• Device type
• Operating system
• App version and build
• IP address
• Session and authentication information
• Crash and diagnostic information
• Security and request logs

We use this information for purposes such as reliability, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and account security.

4. Device Permissions

Certain Beem features may request access to device capabilities, including:

• Microphone
• Photos
• Notifications
• Bluetooth

Beem requests these permissions only when they are relevant to a feature you choose to use.

You can control these permissions through your device settings.

5. Location Information

Certain optional Beem features may use location information.

If you enable a location-based discovery feature, Beem may temporarily receive device location coordinates in order to derive a broader or coarser proximity context.

Beem is designed so that:

• Your exact geographic coordinates are not shown to other users.
• Your exact physical distance from another user is not shown to other users.
• Location is not intended to create a detailed history of your movements.
• Location-based features may be disabled.

Where possible, Beem uses derived or coarse contextual information rather than retaining exact location data longer than necessary.

6. Bluetooth and Beem Tap

Beem Tap uses Bluetooth to support intentional, in-person interactions between users.

Bluetooth access is used only as necessary to provide Beem Tap functionality.

Beem does not intend to use Beem Tap to create a general history of your movements or physical encounters.

7. AI and Recommendation Systems

Beem uses automated systems and machine-learning technologies to help understand content and improve discovery.

Depending on the feature, Beem may generate or process information such as:

• Visual embeddings
• Broad semantic tags
• Interest signals
• Interest clusters
• Behavioral affinity signals
• Novelty and exploration signals
• Explicit preference signals
• Contextual discovery signals

These systems are designed to understand broad topics, interests, activities, environments, and interaction patterns.

For example, a photo may provide signals related to general concepts such as fitness, running, travel, outdoors, food, technology, or photography.

Beem does not intentionally use recommendation systems to infer sensitive personal characteristics, including:

• Race or ethnicity
• Religion
• Sexual orientation
• Health conditions
• Political affiliation
• Financial status
• Biometric identity

Private Reply message content is excluded from Beem's recommendation analysis.

8. How We Use Your Information

We use information to provide and operate Beem, including to:

• Create and authenticate accounts

• Deliver and display Shots
• Operate Vibes
• Operate Replies and conversation history
• Operate Beemers and Inner Circle

• Provide customer support
• Prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access

We do not use personal information for unrelated purposes without appropriate notice or consent where required by law.

9. Personalization and Discovery

Beem may personalize recommendations using signals such as:

• Semantic characteristics of Shots
• Vibes
• Reply occurrence, but not Reply message text
• Beemer interactions
• Explicit feedback such as “Show less like this”
• Content freshness
• Novelty and diversity
• Optional contextual or proximity signals

Not interacting with a Shot does not automatically mean you dislike it.

Beem distinguishes between a lack of interaction and explicit negative feedback.

Automated recommendations may not always accurately reflect your interests.

10. Information We Do Not Sell

Beem does not sell your personal information for money.

Beem does not sell:

• Private Reply conversations
• Personal Shots to data brokers
• Recommendation profiles to data brokers
• Exact location information to other users

If Beem's business practices materially change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide notices or choices where required by law.

11. Service Providers

We may share limited information with companies that help us operate Beem.

These may include providers of:

• Cloud hosting
• Databases
• Media storage and delivery

Account Information

Account information may be retained while your account remains active and for an additional period where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.

Shots and Media

Shots and associated media are retained according to Beem's product lifecycle and content-retention rules.

A Shot may stop appearing in certain areas of Beem without necessarily being immediately deleted from Beem's systems.

Replies

Reply history may remain available to conversation participants even if the original Shot is no longer available.

Removing or expiring a Shot does not necessarily remove an existing private conversation that originated from that Shot.

Technical and Security Information

Security, diagnostic, and request logs may be retained for limited periods appropriate to security and operational needs.

AI and Recommendation Data

Recommendation-related information may be retained while needed to provide personalization and discovery.

Derived information may be updated, rebuilt, or removed when associated source data or accounts are deleted, subject to technical, security, and legal requirements.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.

These rights may include:

• Accessing your information
• Requesting correction of inaccurate information
• Requesting deletion

If we learn that information has been collected from a child who is not legally permitted to use Beem, we may suspend or close the account and take reasonable steps to delete the associated information.

Beem does not intentionally use information from younger users for targeted advertising.

Beem does not intentionally infer sensitive personal characteristics of younger users for recommendation purposes.

17. International Data Processing

Beem and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

These countries may have different data-protection laws.

Where required, Beem uses appropriate legal, organizational, and contractual safeguards for international data processing and transfers.

Disabling a feature may prevent Beem from using information needed specifically for that feature.

Instructions for account deletion will be provided through Beem or through the privacy contact methods made available by us.

Important implementation note before App Store launch: because Beem supports account creation, Apple currently requires users to be able to initiate deletion of their account from within the app.
